Zeppole – The best thing you could EVER spend $8.99 on

One of the Best Deserts in Las Vegas - Biaggio's Zeppole

Scratch the image, then sniff. Should smell like powdered sugar, raspberry, and chocolate

We love to toot our own horn, so we’re going to just come out and say it.  This is THE BEST dessert you can please a family of 6 for less than $10.

For those of you who are not “in the know”, zeppole are made out of our pizza dough, cut into tiny squares then thrown into the fryer.  These little squares expand into little pillows of excruciatingly soft and fluffy deliciousness.  We then sprinkle a “healthy” amount of powdered sugar on them.  I know, sounds delicious, right?  Well get this, we then serve them with white chocolate, milk chocolate, and raspberry dipping sauce!  It’s up to you to mix and match the sauces.  We know some people like to keep their sauces separated, but others like to mix em all up for dunking.

Cheapest, Deliciousist Dessert in Las Vegas

We ran out of raspberry sauce when New York had it’s frozen spell this year. Yup, we import this stuff from the East Coast.

Come in today.  Even if you’ve already had dinner.  We’re worth a trip, just for these zeppole.  Don’t trust us, listen to some of these quotes -

“I call them ‘pillows from heaven’” – Cliff Rogers (56)

“These are INTENSE!” – Cody (7)

“Grrblgrraaarrr!” – Guy who wouldn’t stop eating to tell us his name (?)

Italian Desserts

Las Vegas' Best Italian Cookies

Viewing this image may make your teeth hurt.

Many people who come to Biaggio’s don’t make room for dessert.  Many come in with the goal of not over-eating , but not cleaning your plate at Biaggio’s is like asking Justin Bieber to shave his head.

For those of you who are regulars, and haven’t ever tried any of our desserts, well, you’re all missing out.  We’re open late, so don’t feel bad about coming in after your normal dinner for some of these tasty Italian delights.

At Biaggio’s, we have a whole bunch of desserts for the discerning taste buds.

  • Italian cookies
  • Cannoli
  • Cheesecake
  • Fried Dough
  • Zeppole

At Biaggio’s the ordinary becomes the extra-OMG-this-is-so-freaking-GOODinary.

Our cookies and cannolie are made by our friend Vincenzo, a 72 year old Italian who doesn’t speak English.

Our “fried dough” is our too-good-to-be-true pizza dough, deep fried, with enough butter and powdered sugar to make Paula Deen blush.

Our “zepolle”, well, they are so special, that they deserve a blog post of their own.

Which of our amazing desserts is your favorite?  Is there anything missing off the menu?

What goes into Las Vegas’ Best Pizza Crust?

The best pizza in Vegas - in dough form

It starts with the ingredients.

There are some basic building blocks to creating the best pizza in Las Vegas.

  1. Crust
  2. Sauce
  3. Cheese
  4. Toppings

Today we are going to talk about #1.

Everyday we make fresh batches of dough.  We use a lot less salt and sugar in our dough than the average pizza shop.  We don’t have to use as much salt and sugar because our ingredients are so fresh.   After years of experience, Biaggio has perfected the ratio of ingredients to create a dough that:

  • Gives a good little crackle when you bite into it.
  • Has the right amount of chew to let you savor the sauces and toppings.
  • Has the perfect hearty, wheaty flavor.
  • Can be used equally well on strombolis, calzones, and fried dough.

The biggest ingredient we put into our crust is time and attention to detail.  Each pinch of flour that goes through Biaggio’s Pizzeria is treated with care from dough to final product.  We love our customers, and we show it through our pizza crust.

Ode to the best Meatball Parmesan sub in Las Vegas

Biaggio's Meatball Parmesan Sub

We had to use every ounce of self control to stop ourselves from eating this work of art before we took pictures (photo credit: Scott Roeben)

When I see the mounds of melted cheese, my heart melts.

As I smell the marinara sauce, my blood boils.

The crunch of the Italian bread as I bite thrills me to the core.

The flavor of the home-made meatballs with wonderful seasoning, and the perfect texture sends me over the edge.

All the other meatball parmesan subs I have had in Las Vegas are ashes in the mouth compared to you.

I love you, meatball parmesan sub. I love you.

To Stromboli or not to Stromboli, it’s really a silly question.

Do you like Pizza?  Well, you wouldn’t be interested in this web site if you weren’t, so I am going to assume you are.  Do you like to fold your pizza when you eat it?  Well, if you do, we have just the thing for you.

Say hello to the stromboli.

Stromboli

"Hello"

Wikipedia defines a stromboli as :

Stromboli is a type of turnover filled with various cheesesItalian meats such as salamicapicola and bresaola or vegetables. The dough is Italian bread dough.

We define a stromboli as:

Stromboli are one of the best things ever invented. Stromboli are like a pre-rolled pizza, with crispy crust on the outside, and wonderfully gooey cheese and hearty fillings on the inside.

Strombolis were created in the 50′s at american pizzerias, so they aren’t authentic Italian.  But they are authentically awesome.

The Inside of a Biaggio's Pizzeria stromboli

If this doesn't make your mouth water, you might want to go see a doctor.

Any of our pizzas at Biaggio’s Pizzeria can be made into a stromboli (except for the veggie pizza, too much water, which turns into steam).

We know it’s hard to not order the pizzas at Biaggio’s Pizzeria, but we promise, it’s worth it.  Change is the spice of life, and you know that if it’s on our menu, it’s good.

Hurry on in, and we will make you up one of our super duper stromboli. They’re to die for.
